Blocked
Having some serious writer’s block this week. I doubt I’ll have a chapter ready to go by tomorrow, but maybe I’ll catch some luck this evening.

I once had the privilege of attending a speech made by Ray Bradbury (well Whittier college paid him to speak…..but it still counts) anyway, He was amazing. A master storyteller, and can really casts a spell when talking.
One of the things he talked about was sitting down, everyday, He would give himself 2 hours. Writing is a discipline he said, so he forced himself to sit and write. He would write anything that came to his mind. Often times he didn’t have topic or a starting point, but always something came to him. A conversation…titles, whatever. He said he had this vast den full of stuff. African masks….posters…shells whatever. And a file cabinet full of articles and pamphlets and all sorts of stuff he picked up. Even his half written or aborted attempts. I can remember him saying he’d cull through that file when he was blocked, find some old dialogue he had rejected for whatever reason, see it again with new eyes and love it, and off he would go.
So……wander around your house….and start writing about the toaster…see what happens.
