Fashion Victory is Mine
Just in time to wear this weekend . . . fashion victory is mine. I made over some hideous muu-muu that I found at a thrift store into an incredibly cute skirt last night. Go me. It’s really convenient that dorky folksy boho is in style right now, because I’d be wearing stuff like this anyway. It’s like seeing a prodigal son return home — a truly horrific textile abomination is now wearable.
All around a good day. I woke up this morning to beautiful cherry blossoms in the rain. Sometimes you don’t have to look any farther than your own backyard to find a little bit of heaven. I wished I had more than just a few moments to capture perfection . . .

I’m making good progress on some important tasks at work, and in a few hours I get to fly to L.A. to experience one of those rare-yet-walloping winter storms that hit Southern California every couple of years. I get to have a haircut on Saturday, I have not coughed at all today or even felt short of breath, and my rye stout showed signs of life this morning. I was worried the yeast had died but it looks like it just took a bit longer for fermentation to pick up. I also got to pass this pretty little scene on my way to lunch, and I was glad I had forgotten to take my camera out of my pocket:

I think it’s a great egret. I don’t know very much about the plants and animals up here yet. Just the other day I was getting homesick for the clucking of quail and the familiar coo-OOO-hoo-hoo-hoo of the doves from back home. The storm this weekend means I probably won’t hear any birds this weekend, but the cherry blossoms on the tree outside my window mean that I’ll be hearing them soon enough.
