I just enjoyed the last episode of Survivorman. What a hardcore. I can understand why Stroud decided to call it quits — being a wilderness guide had to be hard enough on his body, but filming season after season of extreme survival situations with no crew and little tools had to have really taken its toll.

I loved this show for its unpretentious style and the way it commands the absolute respect for the brutality of nature and gratitude for things like food and shelter.

Here’s a hat tip to Les Stroud. And Bear Grylls, I’m still biting my thumb at you, sir.
