Getting There

There’s still a lot of work left to do, but I’m starting to see a little progress. I can’t wait to have my “room of one’s own” so I can really start working on the things I’ve planned for myself in the near future. I have so many half-finished manuscripts and side projects. I’d like to finally finish something, and a stable environment is critical to that. Virginia Woolf put it best; you simply can’t write without financial stability (check) and a quiet, comfortable space to work (absent for the last four years or so).

But bit by bit, I’m settling into my new place and doing what I can day by day to make it a comfortable, beautiful place to come home to. Today I put my finely honed bargain shopping skills to work and found an awesome bed-in-a bag set. Except the bag was an ottoman! Woot!

I’d been meaning to replace my bedding for a while, and the lighter color will balance the dark wood in the room. My roommates are fine with the fact that I’m taking the initiative in making our place look just a *bit* more grown-up. You know, by like, hanging stuff on the walls.

I still need to find two rugs for my room; one for right by the bed and the other to go in front of the hearth. I’d really like to get two small armchairs for my room, but that will have to wait until I’m done with a bit more organization. In the meantime, I can enjoy my new, prettier, more predictable, less trafficky commute every morning . . .

I think I can get used to this place.

You can be FIRST!!1!11!!!1!
